A LETTER FROM KAREN · OCTOBER 2026

Make room for what matters.

Hello, and thank you for being here.

October brings plenty of reminders to let go. But what if you’re not ready? What if something still matters, even though carrying it has become tiring?

You don’t have to force a fresh start because the calendar—or the trees—suggests it.

This month, I invite you to explore a gentler question: What deserves my attention, and what can wait?

A spiritual practice can begin right there. With a moment of honesty. With noticing what matters to you before deciding what comes next.

What makes an everyday action a ritual?

For our purposes, intention. Writing in a notebook can help you capture your thoughts. Returning to that notebook with a question you want to explore can become a personal ritual. The meaning comes from the attention you bring—not from having special supplies or doing everything perfectly.

Try the Keep, Set Down, Invite practice

Take a piece of paper and make three headings:

  • Keep: What is supporting me that I want to make room for?
  • Set down: What expectation, obligation or habit could I loosen my grip on?
  • Invite: What would I like a little more of in my days?

Write one answer beneath each heading. There are no correct answers, and nothing needs to sound profound.

Then choose one small action: protect a quiet morning, ask for help with something, spend ten minutes creating, or leave one nonessential task for another day.

Return to your page a week later. Notice what still feels true.
